Priorities
There are three important things in our political discussions:
- Process - The laws and governing bodies by which we make, execute, and judge laws.
- Problems - Identifying and establishing priority among issues.
- Solutions - Figuring out and enacting methods of addressing problems.
We spend way too much time arguing about solutions and way too little on identifying and prioritizing problems.
We’ve gotten to the point where you can’t even get people to agree on where there are problems if they think they might have different solutions. This is basically where the Republicans have stonewalled - they now refuse outright to acknowledge problems since they fear they won’t like proposed solutions.
